Congratulations & Welcome to the Fitness Industry

As a fitness center marketing and sales professional you have the ability to positively or negatively influence a person’s perception of the fitness industry and more specifically our fitness business. With this in mind, it’s important to always conducting yourself in a professional manner, both inside the fitness center and while out in community and in the public eye. As a fitness industry professional you are placed in a position of being a role model to members, prospects and the community at large. All staff members, no matter what their position in the company, have an impact on the lifecycle of our members. What is the “lifecycle of a member”? It’s the length of time a member maintains their status as an active and paying member. All staff play an important role in member lifecycle management.

How we conduct ourselves personally and professionally and how we manage and operate the fitness center will have an impact on member lifecycle management. We must strive to provide a friendly and helpful atmosphere while always maintaining a clean and functional facility. Generally speaking, members who are happy with the facility and who regularly use the fitness center are rarely at risk of canceling their membership.

Responsibilities

As with any career, you are charged with certain responsibilities that keep the fitness center running smoothly. As with all facility staff you are responsible to help with the overall daily operations of the fitness center, including but not limited to, customer service, marketing and sales, facility maintenance and cleanliness, as well as other essential facility operations. Each of these areas of responsibility are equally important and lend to the smooth operation of the fitness center.

This manual will provide you with an understanding of the responsibilities necessary to successful operate a fitness center business.
